NIGERIA ORAL HISTORY COMING SOON!
Nigeria Resilience
In Nigeria, our Lab focuses on female-headed households and displaced single mothers in Benue State — women who have fled violence carried out by Boko Haram and ISWAP in the north and are navigating displacement with little institutional support or documentation.
Our in-country team is made up of three youth researchers selected from a competitive cohort of more than 30 candidates who completed our custom education portal and hybrid training program. All three continue to receive ongoing mentorship from our Africa team. Rather than partnering with an established organization, we invested directly in building local research capacity, training individuals who are embedded in the communities they're documenting and who bring both personal understanding and professional rigor to the work. That combination is rare and it matters: women in displacement are more likely to share their stories with someone who knows their context and their community.
The first oral history from Benue State is expected to complete production in May 2026.
