About the Site
The Refugee Archive is a nonprofit organization focused on preserving oral histories and related materials and translating stories into research, education, and action. Information on this Site is provided for general informational purposes.
Privacy
Your use of the Site is also subject to our Privacy Policy. Please review it to understand how we collect and use information.
Acceptable Use
You agree not to:

Oral Histories, Stories, and Sensitive Content
Some content may include personal narratives and descriptions of displacement, hardship, or trauma. We aim to handle all materials ethically and respectfully. If you believe any content should be reviewed, corrected, or removed, please contact us.
Submissions and Forms
If you submit information through our forms (including inquiries, fellowship applications, submissions for journals or creative work, or partnership requests), you agree that:

For journal, artist, or media submissions: Unless you and The Refugee Archive agree otherwise in writing, you retain ownership of your original work. By submitting, you grant us a non-exclusive license to review it and, if accepted, to publish and promote it with appropriate credit.
If you are submitting on behalf of someone else, you confirm you have permission to do so.
Donations
If donations are processed through third-party platforms, your donation may be subject to their terms as well as ours. Donation refunds (if any) will be handled in line with our written refund practices or platform rules. Tax deductibility depends on applicable law and your individual circumstances; we recommend consulting a tax professional.

Authorization. When you submit a donation, you authorize the Payment Processor to charge the payment method you provide for the amount you select (including any recurring schedule you choose, if offered).

Receipts and tax status. We will provide an acknowledgment/receipt for donations when available. Tax deductibility depends on applicable law and your personal circumstances; we recommend consulting a tax professional.

Refunds. Donations are generally non-refundable. However, we may consider refunds in limited circumstances (for example, duplicate transactions, clear processing errors, or unauthorized charges) at our discretion. If you believe a donation was made in error, contact us promptly at contact@therefugeearchive.org with the transaction details.

Chargebacks and disputes. If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute, we may ask for additional information to investigate. We reserve the right to suspend processing of future donations or access to certain services if we suspect fraud or misuse.
Third-Party Links and Embedded Content
The Site may include links to third-party websites and embedded media (for example, podcast players or social platforms). We do not control and are not responsible for third-party content, policies, or practices. Your use of third-party services is at your own risk. Payment processing is handled by third-party Payment Processors and we do not store full payment card details on our servers.
